Marja-Liisa Orgelsuite is a musical encounter between six pump organs from the Nordic countries. The creator and composer behind Marja-Liisa Orgelsuite is Mariann Torset from Målselv (NO). The concert was commissioned for the Kalottspel folk music festival in August 2018, and the performance has since been played nearly 30 times in Norway, Sweden, and Finland. Now the Maja-Liisa Orgelsuite is ready for a new tour in Finland!
The pump orgel has been an important accompanying instrument in Finnish and Swedish folk music for the past 50 years, and in Norway over the past 20 years. It is not common to have more than one organ in a band, so this was an opportunity non of them could pass.
Milla and Leija from Finland, Kristina and Janne from Sweden, and Lena and Mariann from Norway have explored what six pump organs can achieve together. The result is Marja-Liisa Orgelsuite, and they can promise you a soundscape you have never experienced before!
The folk music festival Kalottspel and Folkemusikk Nord have once again produced a performance and it has been performed in Norway, Sweden, and Finland. Terje Foshaug is the producer, and Sigurd Johan Heide from the dance company Kartellet has been involved as choreographer.
Marja-Liisa Orgelsuite has had a short break after performances at the organ festivals in Östersund and Bodø in the fall of 2022, but is now ready for the following performances in Finland:
