Cross-border folk music in Norrbotten
In November 2025, Arctic Pulse and Scene Nord brought Johanna-Adele Jüssi Trio to Norrbotten for a cross-border tour with four concerts in Kiruna, Boden, Gällivare and at Pitefolk at Framnäs Folkhögskola. The tour also included a masterclass for students at Framnäs, creating a meeting point between live performance and learning.
Led by Johanna-Adele Jüssi together with Bendik Lund Haanshus and Christo Stangness, the trio presented music shaped by Norwegian and Estonian folk traditions, jazz and electronics. Through cooperation with local presenters in Norrbotten, the tour gave audiences in Northern Sweden the chance to experience a Nordic production with strong artistic roots in the North.
For Arctic Pulse, the value of the tour was not only in the concerts themselves, but in the connections it created across borders. By combining touring with a student masterclass, the activity linked artists, presenters and young musicians, and showed how cross-border cooperation can create new opportunities for live music, learning and future collaboration in the region.
